How to Use¶
- Front of card: inflected Greek form
- Back of card: verb + tense/mood + person + number + gloss
- Tags allow filtering by person or number in Anki
Key features of εἰμί: - εἰμί is a linking verb (copula) — it connects a subject to a predicate nominative or predicate adjective, not to a direct object. - It is enclitic in all forms except the 2nd singular (εἶ) and the infinitive. Enclitics attach their accent to the preceding word; do not expect εἰμί forms to carry their own accent in most contexts. - The moveable nu appears on ἐστίν before a vowel and at the end of a clause; before a consonant the form is ἐστί. - εἰμί has no voice (it is neither active nor passive) and no aorist or perfect in NT Greek.

Note: εἶ (2nd sg) is the only form that consistently carries its own accent; it is therefore the only non-enclitic form in this paradigm. All other forms are enclitic and will appear without accent (or with a secondary accent) in running text.

The .txt file also includes six reverse cards — given the gloss and parsing, produce the Greek form. These are tagged eimi-reverse and can be suspended if not needed.
